PARTY IN THE PARK - THE PERFORMERS

FLASH REPUBLIC
Consisting of renowned DJ Ryan Dent, the super-cool songstress Tamara Dey, and DJ Craig Massiv, Flash Republic brings together the cream of South Africa’s dance music scene. Their first hit-packed album is on shelves now, with another highly anticipated CD in the works.

LIRA
After winning a South African Music Award in 2007 for the video of Feel Good, the first single off her same-titled second album, Lira has had a busy year. She’s widely considered one of the most promising new artists of her generation and a contemporary jazz performer of real substance.

STUART HILLARY
Well-known DJ and producer Stuart Hillary has been in the dance music industry for twelve years. Co-founder of Therapy in the late ‘90s, he’s had residencies at diverse clubs such as Krypton, The Embassy, Mrs Hendersons, and more recently, Legends and Swanky.

HELEN DESBOIS
Helen is an all-round performer with 13 years experience on stage and TV, having recorded several songs and grabbing a SAMA nomination in 2001. She is working on new tracks with various producers including The Good Life and What’s The Fuss (alongside Gary van Riet of Sonic Divas).

WILLEM BOTHA
Willem Botha shot to fame after coming second in kykNet’s Afrikaans Idols. He has been touring with well-known Afrikaans artists since 2004, and his debut album, Kô Ma Hier, hit the shelves in April this year.

NELDA
Nelda Jansen van Rensburg also competed for glory on kykNet’s Afrikaans Idols, ending up among the Top 5 finalists. A graduate of the Santa Anna Orange County High School of Arts in Los Angeles, Nelda is currently working on her debut album.

RUNNING WITH SCISSORS
Punk/pop band Running With Scissors is the longest-standing all-girl band in Joburg, having toured extensively throughout the country. They have shared the stage with acts such as Karen Zoid, The Mahotella Queens, Malaika, Fuzi Gish, Electro Muse and The Parlotones to mention a few.

TUMI
The smooth crooning vocals featured on his debut album make local singer Tumi someone to watch out for in the local R'nB scene. Infectious dance-infused songs and ballads together with an exceptional vocal range set Tumi apart from many of his contemporaries.

WASSERFALL
Wasserfall believe in original music and ideas. They sound ‘different’ without coining on shock value, and move effortlessly between genres. Their debut album, Veralgemeen Jouself, appeals to the alternative Afrikaans and English markets and addresses topical issues.

ZIZA MHLONGO
Born and raised in Croatia, Ziza Mhlongo’s family immigrated to South Africa when she was 19 years old. She completed her B.Mus degree in ‘96 and has performed extensively in various genres, including classical, dance (as part of Suplex), jazz (Ziza & The Jazz Boys) and lounge (as part of Lo-Hi-Fi).

MANU
Manu Ndlovu is a performing artist at heart. Her passion lies with acting, but she can also sing and dance. She was born in Durban, studied Drama and has been involved in many community projects, teaching drama, dance training, and doing missionary work.
