    Johannesburg, 23 July 2010 - In light of reports of an outbreak of xenophobic violence, and noting Joburg Pride’s 2010 theme “We’re All African”, Joburg Pride wishes to add its voice to that of other civil society organisations in condemning prejudice, discrimination, violence and victimisation against foreign nationals living in South Africa.

    Johannesburg, 29 April 2010 - Joburg Pride has announced its theme for the 2010 Joburg Gay Pride Day and Parade, set to take place at Zoo Lake Sports Club on Saturday 2nd October.

    Highlighting the deteriorating human rights landscape for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people across Africa, Joburg Pride will be reminding the continent’s people, politicians and religious leaders that: We’re ALL African.

    Johannesburg, 3 October 2009 - An estimated fifteen thousand gays and lesbians – and their friends and families – descended on Zoo Lake Sports Club in Johannesburg on Saturday morning to celebrate the 20th annual Joburg Gay Pride Parade, presented by 94.7 Highveld Stereo.

    Kicking off at 11am from Zoo Lake, the festive parade wound its way through the streets of Rosebank. Stretching out over three and half kilometres, the procession - featuring marchers, floats and open top buses – brought traffic to a standstill as people lined the streets to watch the celebration.

    Sports icon backs Africa’s biggest gay Pride parade

    Legendary tennis champion Martina Navratilova has expressed her support for the upcoming Joburg Pride Parade, presented by 94.7 Highveld Stereo, which is set to take place on Saturday 3rd October.

    “Pride is a fantastic opportunity for everyone, especially the youth, to come out and publicly celebrate who they are. It can be a truly life-changing experience. It certainly was for me,” said Navratilova in a message of support sent to Pride organisers.

    You can play a part in commemorating the victims of homophobic hate crimes at this Saturday’s Joburg Gay Pride Parade and Celebration at Zoo Lake Sports Club, proudly brought to you by 5FM and Flex Bender.

    In addition to celebrating our diversity and freedoms, Joburg Pride has a serious side; signified this year by the theme ‘Love, Not Hate’. This will be reflected in the Joburg Pride Wall of Remembrance which will be erected at Zoo Lake Sports Club on Saturday.
